William John Hall was married to Mary Talitha Kinman . He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company C , 8th Georgia Battalion,GIST'S BRIGADE(Army of Tennessee)LITTLEFIELD VOLUNTEERS.
Company C was recruited from Gordon County Georgia, October 11, 1861 and mustered at Blackwood Springs in the fall of 1861.

W.J. Hall saw action at Jackson,Mississippi in May 1863. Afterwards , he was transferred to Chattanooga, Tennessee , and took part in the Battles of Chickamauga,Missionary Ridge,Resaca,New Hope Church,andKennesaw Mountain
While attempting to secure water for his wounded, W.J. Hall was shot through the hip and wounded himself. While recovering from his wound , he went into the hill country of
Fannin County to rest , but the times were so unsettled , he made an attempt to re join his Regiment. While traveling on foot , he became exhausted , and sat down on the roadside to rest. It was then, on July 23rd, 1864 that he was captured by a detachment of Gen.Stoneman's Cavalry. He was sent to Camp Chase,Ohio as a Prisoner of War, where he remained until the end of March 1865. Then he was Prisoner Exchanged , and was in Richmond,Virginia at the end of hostilities in early April 1865. Having no money to travel , he and his companions set out for his home and family, in Gordon County Georgia, on foot. They traveled through Greensboro and Charlotte, North Carolina , reaching his family on the last day of April 1865. He found his wife and children living on the farm in the Oothcaloga Valley. They spent the remainder of 1865 on that farm , then went to their old home at Cat Den Springs (near the current Antioch Baptist Church) , that winter.


William John Hall & Mary Talitha Kinman,had a total of 13 Children by their union.
