Born Aug. 5, 1918, in Hulett, Wyo., to Walter and Myrtle McCabe, he attended school in Wyoming and graduated high school in Orland.
Mr. McCabe served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. He married Florence Casner in Reno, Nev., in 1942. He owned and operated gas stations and an automotive repair shop here in Chico for over 45 years, retiring in 1981.
Lee loved to landscape, garden, play cards, and was an avid arborist.
Lee is survived by one daughter, Karen Mills of Butte Valley; grandchildren: Delcie Console of Paradise, James Jefferson of Chico, Kecia Mills of Oroville, and five great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence and son, Lee Roy McCabe, Jr.
A private family service will be held next week. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Mr. McCabe's name may do so to the Butte Humane society in care of the Brusie Funeral Home. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on June 13, 2007.
