Ellen was the daughter of Roy Pinkney Noble and Loula Cribb Noble of Chadbourn, North Carolina. Her children are David Sellers Futch and Bronwin Sellers Futch Clark. Ellen was preceded in death by her first husband Herman Claude Sellers of North Carolina. Herman died in a boating accident on Mothers Day in 1954 and is buried in Whiteville, NC. Ellen married William A Futch in 1956 and he adopted her two children. He is buried in the Nixon Cemetery (Olde Point) in Hampstead, NC.
