Funeral services for Frank Maruska, who died at his home in Cresco Saturday, December 24, 1932, of two days illness of pneumonia, were held at the St. John's church at Ft. Atkinson December 27 at ten o'clock. The Rev. Father Dostal read the requiem mass and said prayers at the grave. Interment was made at St. John's cemetery beside his wife who preceded him in death Nov. 1919, and one son John on April 29, 1929. Pall bearers were four sons: Frank, George, Edward, Will, one grandson Clarence, and son-in-law John Smith.
Frank Maruska, Sr., was born in Prague, Bohemia, Feb. 16, 1849. At the age of 29 [21] he came to America. In the year of 1878 he was united in marriage with Margaret Rausch at Ft. Atkinson. This union was blessed with nine children. Surviving him are six sons, Frank and Will of Elma, Iowa, George of Madison, Wis., Joe, Edward and three daughters, Mrs. Margert Bodie of Detroit, Mich., Mary of Cresco, Iowa, and Mrs. John P. Smith, Ft. Atkinson and also one sister, Mrs. Frank Valenta, of Calmar, and 17 grand children and 1 great grand child.
The deceased was a resident of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, after first coming to America, for several years being employed on the railroad, then moved to Spillville, where they resided for several years. When the tide of moving into Howard Co. was on he with his family moved on a farm they purchased near Lourdes, Howard County, where they farmed many more years. Later when unable to farm, due to his advanced age, he retired and moved to Cresco, where he spent his last years of his life.
Mr. Maruska was a devout member of the Catholic church. He was kind and loving father and neighbor. His many acts of kindness during an active lifetime made him beloved by his friends and neighbors.

Given To Grave

A LONG TIME RESIDENT OF LOURDES PASSESS
AWAY AT THE AGE OF 83. BURIED ON TUESDAY.

Funeral services for Frank Maruska, Sr., long time resident of Lourdes and known by many here, were held last week Tuesday at Fort Atkinson. Rev. Father Dostal, pastor of the St. John's Catholic Church, officiated at the services in the church and at the cemetery.
Frank Maruska died at his home near Lourdes on Saturday, December 24. He had been an invalid for several years. He was aged 83 years, 10 months and 8 days.
The deceased was born February 16, 1849 at Prague, Bohemia. When 29 years of age he came to America to make his home and lived in the community of Lourdes ever since. In 1878 he was united in marriage to Margaret Rausch at Fort Atkinson.
Nine children issued from this martial union all of whom except one son, John, living to mourn his passing. They are: Frank, of Elma, William, of Lourdes, George, of Madison, Wisconsin, Joe, Ed and Mrs. Margaret Bodie, of Detroit, Michigan, Mary of Cresco and Mrs. John P. Smith of Fort Atkinson. Mrs. Maruska died about fifteen years ago.
The bereaved children are well known here and in their sorrow they have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.

DEATH OF FRANK MARUSKA SR.
Frank Maruska, age 83 years, father of Mrs. Mary Dargan of Cresco and F.J. Maruska, formerly of Cresco, no of Elma, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, following a few days illness of pneumonia.
The body was at the Wren-Easler funeral home until Tuesday morning when it was taken to Ft. Atkinson where funeral services were held in the Catholic church. Burial was in family lot in Calvary [St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery] cemetery there. His sons Joe and Ed and daughter Maggie, all of Detroit, Mich., and son George of Madison were present at the funeral. An obituary will be published next week.

FRANK MARUSKA DIES LAST SATURDAY
Frank Maruska, age 83 years, native of Bohemia, and formerly of Elma passed away Saturday, December 24, following a few days illness with pneumonia. The body was at the Wren-Easler Funeral home until Monday afternoon when it was taken to Ft. Atkinson where services where held at the Catholic church at 10:00 o'clock the following morning. Burial was made at Calvary cemetery there.
