Tim Murphy, 45, of New Palestine, passed away Sept. 1, 2011, in Greenfield, Ind.

Born on Feb. 5, 1966, in Mt. Vernon, he was the son of Michael A. and Jackie L. (Conner) Murphy.

He graduated from Southern Illinois University and was the owner of the Fab Shop in New Palestine, Ind. He built custom headers for the drag racing and truck and tractor pulling industries.

He married Judy E. Ward on Oct. 12, 1991.

Tim was a member of United Manual Transmission Racers. He loved drag racing, his children and was a Reds baseball fan.

Surviving him are his wife, Judy Murphy of New Palestine, Ind.; mother, Jackie L. Murphy of Mt. Vernon; children, Jessica A. and Kelley A. Murphy of New Palestine, Ind.; brother, Thomas "Chris" Murphy of Mt. Vernon; grandmother, Gladys Morneweg of Evansville, Ind.; and nephew, Nicholas A. Murphy of Mt. Vernon.

Preceding him in death were his father and grandparents.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield, Ind. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Fred Powers will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
