Elmer Victor "Vic" West, 67 of Brazil passed away April 7, 2011 at 9:15am in his home surrounded by family. He was born May 7, 1943 in Clay County, the son of Elmer H. West and Rachel Cathern Yocom West.

As a young man he worked on the family farm and all through his life he enjoyed the outdoors and working in the yard. Landscaping was something he also took pride in and appreciated looking at interesting landscape designs.
Vic worked at the Clay County jail for the Sheriff's Department as a jailer for over 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Debbie West; one brother Jackie West; a great-niece, Tiffany Spugnardi.

Survivors include his sister, Jessie West Neier of Terre Haute; his special friend, Wayne McKenny; two nieces, Maria Tyler and husband Rick of Brazil, Michel Patterson and husband Bob of Terre Haute; nephew Marc Neier and wife Linda of Brazil; great nieces, Stephanie Byrer and husband Mike, Brittney Spugnardi; great-nephews, Andy Spugnardi, Ryan Patterson, and John Robert Patterson. Vic also had the friendship of two four-legged friends, Theo and Sergio.


Funeral Information
According to Vic's wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will take place April 16, 2011 at 3:00pm at the Seelyville United Methodist Church. There will be a dinner following the service. Donations may be made to Vista Care Hospice or to the memorial of choice.
