Services for retired Staff Sgt. Bernard Lewis Schessler Jr., 51, of Killeen will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating.
Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
Schessler died Jan. 25, 2003, in Killeen.
He was born Feb. 10, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Schessler served 20 years in the U.S. Army and later retired from DynCorp at Fort Hood.
During his military career, Schessler was awarded the Army Service Ribbon (numeral 2); National Defense Service Medal; NCO Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 3); Army Achievement Medal; Sharpshooter Badge (rifle); and Good Conduct Medal with silver, one loop.
Schessler had lived in the Killeen area since 1976 and was a member of Faith Temple.
He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the 2nd Armored Division Association.
He is survived by his wife, Catalina Schessler of Killeen; five sons, Julio Schessler of Killeen, Alfonso Schessler of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bernard L. Schessler III, Stephen Schessler and Joseph Schessler, all of Panama; two daughters, Martha Schessler of Garland and Agueda Gambino of Houston; a brother, John Schessler of Pittsburg, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
