PIONEER WOMAN DEAD

Mrs. Susan Ables, aged eighty years, and mother of Ables Bros., the blacksmiths, died Thursday evening at 11:30 at the home of C. O. Ables in Fairview. She had been in poor health about five years.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. Burton Sheppard of the M. E. church. Burial was made in the Humeston cemetery. The following obituary was read at the funeral services:

Susan Williams was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, December 18, 1833, and died here June 11, 1914, aged eighty years, five months and twenty-three days. She united with the M. E. church of Middlebourne, Ohio, at an early age, and continued in that church until the fall of 1897, when she came with her son, Charles Ables, to Humeston and united with the local M. E. church by letter. She was in constant attendance at divine services until her health failed.

She was the youngest child in a family of twelve. One brother, Levi Williams, came to this county in an early day, living here until the time of his death, November 29, 1893. She was united in marriage to William Ables in 1853. He preceded her to the better world Feb. 2, 1897. To this union were born eight children, three of whom preceded her to the spirit world. Thomas Grant died January 22, 1894; Samuel W., May 9, 1873; Alice A., January 1, 1860.

Mrs. Ables is survived by the following children: Mrs. Casper Enos, Salesville, Ohio; Mrs. James Lindsey, Wilcox, Canada; Mrs. Lloyd Mercer, Bend, Oregon; C. O. and B. E. Ables, Humeston. She had twenty-four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
