Henry W. Butler Dies
Henry W. [Wilbur] Butler, 70, of 715 14th Ave. N. died yesterday at the Veteran’s Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Sternborg Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church, the Rev. James Warren of Ringsted officiating.

Mr. Butler was born Nov. 19, 1887, in Russell county, Kan. [Per WWI Draft records: Jewel City, Russell Co., Kans.] He was united in marriage to Effie Pannkuk on March 26, 1927, at Waterloo.

A World War I veteran, Mr. Butler was employed by the Rock Island for 38 years, most of which time was spent in Estherville. He retired in 1950.

Survivors are his wife; four sons, Bill and Henry, both of Estherville, Dick, serving with the Navy at Long Beach, Calif., and Ben, also in the Navy and stationed at Memphis, Tenn; two daughters, Audrey and Marjory, both at home; four grandchildren; one sister,, Mrs. W.F. Butler and one brother, Harry Butler of Independence, Mo.

The body will lie in state at Sternborg Funeral Home from Sunday noon until time of services Monday. Burial will be in East Side cemetery.

Mr. Butler was a charter member of the local VFW post and members have been asked to assemble at the post home at 1:30 p.m. Monday to attend the funeral in a body. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 14, 1958)
