Elijah John is the son of William Washington and Sarah Ann Whitney Potter. He was born while his parents were with the Mormon Pioneers head to Salt Lake City, Utah. They were in the Edward Hunter-Jacob Foutz Company of 1847. Elijah married Sarah Eliza Jolley and they had nine children. Elijah William, Sarah Emily, William Berry, George Henry, Walter Gardner, Wallace Lafayette,Myrtle Nellie, Timothy, and Pearl Melvina. He was a quite man. He worked alot with the Indians to help to bring peace among them and the White settlers. Three of his children and his sweetheart Sarah all preceded him in death.
