Theodore (Ted) Wanderer Nov. 17, 1921 ~ May 28, 2010 - Resident of Danville

A husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, and friend, Ted Wanderer was a gentleman who lived his life with class, grace, and dignity. Ted always treated those around him with kindness and respect. He was an honorable man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ted was born in New York City to Frederick Wanderer and Ethel Pedersen. At age 9 he lost his father to TB. The Depression years that followed helped shape the work ethic that would forever stay with Ted. In 1940, Ted enlisted in the Navy and was aboard the USS Wasp CV-7 when it was put into commission and served on the USS Woolsey during the African Invasion. Ted later sailed with Moore McCormack Lines and regaled his family and friends with his adventures sailing the Amazon and the Baltic Sea. He returned to the NY/New Jersey area and his growing young family to continue his education at CCNY. He was a volunteer fireman and Sunday school teacher. Ted began to work in an industry that would capture his interest and talent for the rest of his life. His time on Wall Street and years with Goldman Sachs became the stimulus that inspired Ted to continue in the financial industry for the next 50 plus years. In 1968, Ted followed the siren call to California. He always claimed that he was a native Californian since it was a state of mind. He eventually formed his broker/dealer Cypress Capital and later Sterling Financial Services of Walnut Creek. Ted met Bonnie, the love of his life, at a gathering for astronaut Wally Shirra. He continued to dedicate his business life to his many clients and colleagues while building a home base in San Francisco, later moving to San Mateo and then, following the dream, to Danville where he and Bonnie built the home where they continued to live for the next 28 years. Ted is survived by daughters Sandra Parbury and Cindy Brooks; grandchildren Cindy Parbury, Jamey Moore (Carole), Eric Brooks (Christina); great-grandson Rowan Moore; cousins from Tarrytown, NY and Wisconsin; and his loving wife Bonnie. Ted was predeceased by his first wife Shirley Moore. The family wishes to thank the staff at Vitas Hospice and most especially, his home aid, friend, and angel, Temo, who put a smile on Ted's face everyday. A military memorial service will be held in the fall at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery where Ted chose to be laid to rest.
