Altha Jane remarried after Samuel's death to James Henry Hunt September 14, 1943 in Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas. At the time of her death she was living at 2003 Spence Street in Lufkin. She died of a cerebral vascular accident. She was buried March 8, 1970. The informant was her daughter, Linnie Cates.

The body will lie in state at the Gipson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hunt died in a local hospital early Friday morning after a brief illness. She was born in Cass County, July 14, 1883 and had retired in Angelina County for most of her life. She was a member of the Clawson Assembly of God Church.
Survivors: two daughters, Mrs. Linnie Cates, of Lufkin and Mrs. Gracie Guffery [sic; Guffey], of Grant, Ala.; sister, Mrs. George Brewer, of Antlers, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
