A funeral service for Lorraine K. Knutson of Lakefield took place Sept. 7 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield with Pastor Andrew Schensted officiating. Burial was in the Lakefield City Cemetery. Lorraine Knutson died Sept. 4 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield.

Casket bearers were Jed Knutson, Tod Quiring, Tom Quiring, Brent Quiring, Chris Hansen, Erin LeMere, Angela Urban, Matt Knutson, Lara Motley, Trevor Hansen, Nels Knutson, Tyler Knutson, Cara Pederson, Nate Knutson, Jordan Ollendick, Jasmine Ollendick, Jacob Ollendick and Meghan MacMillan. Music was provided by Ardis Mickelson, organist with vocalist Gia DesLauriers. The LaCanne Family Funeral Services handled the funeral arrangements.

Lorraine Kathryn (Quale) Knutson was born on July 9, 1921 in Adams, to Nels and Laura (Lewison) Quale. She was baptized on Aug. 21, 1921 in Adams and confirmed on May 10, 1936 at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams. She received her education from Adams Public Schools where she graduated in the Class of 1939. After high school, Lorraine attended Minneapolis Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Farmers State Bank of Lakefield where she met her future husband Kenneth. On Aug. 20, 1944, Lorraine was united in marriage to Kenneth Knutson at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield. This marriage was blessed with seven children. Lorraine and Kenneth farmed the family farm in Hunter Township south of Lakefield where Lorraine kept busy as a homemaker. In June of 2010 Lorraine moved to Rosewood Villas where she enjoyed spending time with the other residents and the wonderful care she received from the staff. Kenneth passed away on April 5, 2011. Due to failing health, Lorraine moved to Colonial Manor in July of 2011.

Lorraine was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield where she was very active in WELCA, Ruth Circle, and quilting group. Lorraines greatest enjoyments in life were quilting, baking, Bible study with her Ruth Circle friends, serving people and most of all was delighted with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her seven children, Sharon (Arthur) Hansen of Phoenix, Ariz., Laurel (Gary) Quiring of Windom, Kevin Knutson of Madelia, Bruce Knutson of Lakefield, Valjean (Brian) MacMillan of Sun Prairie, Wis., David (Cathy) Knutson of New Hampton, Iowa, and Bob (Jean) Knutson of Windom; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Lois (Robert) Mix of Barnes, Wis., Ora Kennedy of Covina, Calif., and Margaret Quale of Rose Creek; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; two brothers, Hilding Quale and Kermit Quale; one sister, Neva Hilker; two brothers-in-law, Dale Hilker and Merle Knutson; and two sisters-in-law, Catherine Quale and Ardys Knutson.
