Esther Arlyne Kirby Boggess- Huffman, 89, died in Liberty on Friday, March 22, 2013 after a brief illness. Her body will lie in state at Liberty Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on Friday, March 29, 2013 starting at 10:00am with services at 11:00. A gathering will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Liberty, Missouri. Arlyne Kirby was born September 8, 1923 in Dearborn, Missouri to Mildred (Williams) and George William Kirby. The family later moved to Liberty in 1936 and Arlyne graduated from Liberty High School in 1941. Arlyne attended Chillicothe Business College, graduating in 1942. She worked for Jones & Laughlin Steel, the US Department of Agriculture, and later in the executive offices at Ford Motor Company until her retirement in 1988. Arlyne and Harry Lee Boggess, Jr. were married on January 4, 1947 at Second Baptist Church in Liberty. Daughter Connie was born in 1948 and son Harry Lee was born in 1954. Arlyne followed her husband to Georgia in 1951 when he was called for active duty in the Army Reserve to serve in the Korean Conflict. She and Connie returned to Liberty to await his return. Arlyne and Harry had been married 36 years when Mr. Boggess died in 1983. Arlyne married her old friend, Waller Huffman, on February 13, 1987. They built a house together, attended many of their grandchildren's sporting events in the area, and traveled extensively until his death in 2007. Arlyne's son-in-law, Wayne Carder, preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Carder, of Cameron, MO, and her son, Harry Lee Boggess III and his wife, Suzie, of Liberty. Arlyne is also survived by four grandchildren and a great granddaughter, who were the loves of her life. Granddaughter Allison Carder Deatherage and her husband, Mark, live in Springfield, MO. Their daughter, Carder Louise, was Arlyne's only great-grandchild. Grandson Kirby Wayne Carder lives in Beijing, China. Granddaughter Britni Boggess Eggers and her husband, Karl, live in St. Louis, MO. Granddaughter Sydney Boggess Owen and her husband, Matt, live in Kansas City, MO. Arlyne also leaves behind her sister, Charlotte Kirby of Liberty. Three cousins, Jackie Hull, Ronnie Foster, and Janice West live in the area. Arlyne was an active member of Liberty Christian Church. She was among the first women deacons and helped to start the Young Matrons Group of CWF. Arlyne was also a member of DAR. She was active in PTA and she was her daughter's Girl Scout Leader and her son's Cub Scout Leader. Arlyne took great pride in her gardens - working long hours so they looked just right. She loved playing bridge with her Tuesday and Thursday Bridge Club friends. She also enjoyed regular get-togethers with her high school classmates.
