James Arthur Hinton was born to Charles Fredrick and Druza (Rogers) Hinton on February 8, 1920 in Mountainair, New Mexico and began his heavenly journey on August 30, 1999 with loved ones at his side.

James was an extraordinary human being and people who met him generally walked away with a smile on their face and/or scratching their head. His energy level was immense. His lust for life was tremendous. His sense of humor boundless, and his love for his fellow man unconditional.

Pages could and should be written about James Arthur Hinton and his successes and disappointments in life. In meeting the challenge of cancer, James did so with humility, bravery, strength and with never a complaint. He faced the enemy with respect and "head on" just as he had done with every challenge in his life.

James is survived by Maxine Hinton, his partner in life and his partner in love for 57 years; his son Fred; his two daughters, Vicki and Karen and their respective spouses.

Services will be held at the Grants Latter-day Saints Chapel on September 2, 1999, with internment immediately following at Pioneer Memorial Park, in Bluewater
