He was in the Falls Fight and, in 1678, went to Canada to recover his family and others who had been captive there. He is often referred to as the "Hero of the Connecticut Valley". He was killed in the attack on Deerfield 29 February 1703/4, his body stripped and mutilated.

Husband of Martha Leonard Waite, married at Hartford,CT on Jun 8,1670.

Possible son of Thomas Waite and Eleanor (?Paine?) Waite of Portsmouth,RI according to some early sources, though he is not listed among their children in all cases. Nor is he listed among the children of John and Mary (Hills) Wait, who are also buried in this cemetery. His birth year is unknown.... the age at death on the monument suggests he was 54 when he died.

Children: Mary Waite Wells, Martha Waite, Sarah Waite Belding Allis(who married John Belding and Ichabod Allis), Canada Waite Smith, John Waite(father of John Wait), Joseph Waite, Jeremiah Waite, and Joseph Waite.
