At the age of twelve, she moved to Douglas and attended school here. She was united in marriage with Lewis Cumpston on July 17, 1936.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis, of Glenrock; her son, William Cumpston of the Corps of Army Engineers stationed in Vietnam; her father, Ralph Skelton and his wife, Mary, of Douglas; six sisters, Mrs. Ruby Hall, Butte, Mont.; Mrs. Ruth Ramsey, Broken Bow, Nebr.; Mrs. Rose Zella Ramsey, Colorado; Mrs. Iris Spanel, Anselmo, Nebr., Mrs. Esther Chrisp, Lincoln, Nebr., and Mrs. Nadine Bell, Bisbee, Arizona. Also surviving are six brothers, William Howard, Peoria, Illinois; Victor Howard, Boleus, Nebr.; Ethel Howard, Mason City, Nebr.; Ira Howard, Greeley, Colo.; and Franklin Skelton of the U. S. Navy; and nieces, nephews. Her mother preceded her in death.
