John Erisman died on Sunday at his home in Rapho Township, adjoining Erisman's meeting house. He died on his seventy-seventh birthday, and was in the room in which he was born. He lived from his birth until his death on the same farm. He was in failing health for several months from a complication of diseases.

He was a descendant of the Erisman family that emigrated from Switzerland in the seventeenth century. He was a son of the late Jacob Erisman, and was born on November 22, 1831. He was a farmer by occupation, but lived retired on the homestead farm since 1895. He was educated in the public schools of his native township, at the Strasburg Academy and at Beck's School at Lititz. In May, 1861, he was married to Miss Fanny Strickler, and she and the children survive: Annie, Atilla Mary, New York; Jacob, Stockton, Kansas; Elizabeth, wife of Isaac Witmer, Hanover, and Frances, wife of P. J. Dunn, Big Muddy, Wyoming. Mrs. Fanny Baker of Junction, and Miss Mary Erisman, of Salunga, are sisters.

He was a Republican in politics, but would never run for office. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. His funeral will take place to-day. Services will be held at the house at 12:30 o'clock and at 10 o'clock at Erisman's meeting house. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining.
