UNITY AND LATHAM

Last Thursday afternoon, at four o'clock, the spirit of Uncle Dave (D.W.) McCIain took its flight to the God who gave it. He had been sick some two weeks with pneumonia, and his suffering was intense. He was seventy-nine years of age, and while he was not one to make any show of his religion, he left the sweet assurance with his bereaved children that he was going to rest, telling them he did not fear death. His life has been a continual blessing to his neighbors and friends, and though his mortal frame is hidden by the sod, his many acts of kindness will continue to live fresh in memory. His hand was ever extended to help the needy. He leaves four sons and one daughter, a number of grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. His remains were laid to rest Friday at Old Concord beside his loved companion, who preceded him. Funeral service conducted by Bro. Bun Ross.
