Putnam Courier, Carmel, NY, Nov. 1, 1918:
"Fred J. Christian, one of the best known and highly respected residents of the town of Kent, died at his home at Farmers Mills on Friday, Oct. 25, 1918, after an illness of two weeks duration from pneumonia, following an attack of Spanish influenza. Mr. Christian born in the town of Putnam Valley, forty years ago, and when a young man he came to East Fishkill, Dutchess County, and engaged in farming, which occupation he followed up until about three years ago, when he engaged in the Mercantile business at Farmers Mills, which business he successfully conducted up to the time of his death. Mr. Christian was possessed of a pleasing personality, a genial disposition, always manifesting a kindly interest in the affairs of those about him, and in his death the community has sustained an irreparable loss and the church, a most valued member."
