She first married Paul George Svorec (1911–1973) on October 10, 1929, when she was 16 years old. They had one child. They were divorced on August 3, 1936, after 6 years of marriage. Her second marriage was to Virgil Rury Swartz (1911–1974) on December 17, 1938. She married her third husband, Maurice Alva Netherland (1908–1996) on June 20, 1981.
She died on February 6, 1998, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, at the age of 85, and was buried in Coloma, Michigan.
