Walter C. Starr, 58, of 1780 Henderson Dr., Marion, died on Monday at St.Luke's Hospital of a sudden illness.

Born on May 15, 1930, at Cedar Rapids, he married Ruth Hayes on May 11, 1952, at Toledo, Iowa. Mr. Starr served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

A former resident of the Tama county area, he attended Iowa State University and graduated from Dunwoody Industrial Institute of Minneapolis. He worked at Collins Radio from 1957 to 1959, and most recently was employed at Nash Finch Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion.

Surviving are his wife; a son, David of Marion; a daughter, Lori of Marion; and a sister Vaneta Braye of Marion.
