Merritt E. Ahlum, 73, of Sellersville, was pronounced dead Wednesday at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, Tioga County, after being stricken on a hunting trip.
Ahlum was the husband of Rosa Marie (Peckiconis) Ahlum. They were married 47 years in May.
He was a heavy equipment operator for James D. Morrissey and Co., Philadelphia, retiring in 1981. He also worked for Union Local 542 Operating Engineers, King of Prussia.
Born in Haycock Township, he was a son of the late Edgar B. and Ada (Landis) Ahlum.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors: Wife; son, James M., and a daughter, Joan M. Moyer, both of Perkasie; brother Daniel of Quakertown and five grandchildren.
Mass: 10 a.m. Monday in the church. Call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Moyer-Kantner Funeral Home, 623 W. Market St., Perkasie, and 9-10 a.m. Monday in church.
