Jack passed away Thursday afternoon, September 29, 2005 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida after complications following a fall at his home. Jack is survived by his wife, Frances Trumper Allen, daughter Margery Allen Dosh of Crystal River, Florida, son Robert Bruce Allen of Salisbury, North Carolina, brother Arbie Allen and sister Phyllis Triplett both of Ashland, Kentucky; along with five grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was born July 23, 1910 in Oldtown (Greenup County), Kentucky. The family moved to Ashland when he was a youngster. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1930 and from the University of Kentucky in 1936, the same year he and Frances were married. A Professional Engineer, Jack served in the Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army Reserve. Most recently, Jack kept busy working crossword puzzles and reading but always found time to make homemade bread, Kahlua, nightlights or squirrel feeders for those he loved. Jack will be best remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and a kind, warm-hearted, generous man with a quick smile.
