Son of Marian and Nettie Cole Dean who resided at Route 2, Dover, Delaware.

Husband of Dolly Ruth Thompson Dean.

Oscar served as a Private First Class, 124th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Kent County, Delaware prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 10, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland and was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being a Welder and as being Married.

Oscar was "Killed In Action" on Mindanao Island of the the Philippine Islands.

He served in the Army for one year and two months at the time of his death.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

At the families request, his state of birth was added to his headstone (Maryland) instead of his state of residence, as was normally done, (Delaware).
