Vincent R. Erickson
Vincent Raymond Erickson, 87, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at his daughter's residence in Milford, Ohio, of congestive heart failure. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Terry Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Erickson was born June 19, 1911, in Sioux City. He attended Sioux City schools, graduating from East High School in 1929. He was employed at several Council Oak stores in the Sioux City area. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1939 with a degree in civil engineering.

He married Grace Louise Sogge on April 17, 1938, in Sioux City.

During World War II, he was employed as a plant engineer with Swift and Co. He then worked for Northwest Airlines before returning to Swift and Co. in 1947. He worked at the Sioux City plant until 1952, when he became the chief engineer and then worked at several locations. He retired in 1974.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Milford.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Louise Knapp of Milford; a son, Gordon Leonard of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Ione Dye of Sioux City; and five grandchildren, Christopher, David, Matthew, Graceanne and Eric.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond.
Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church.
