Sarah Mason survived her husband more than twenty years. Sarah (Chappell) Mason's will was dated May 26, 1796 and recorded Sept. 26, 1796 [Brunswick County, Virginia, Will Book 6, page 57].

Married Aug. 2, 1747 to Christopher Mason, Sr.
She was the daughter of James Chappell and Elizabeth Briggs. She was mentioned in her father's will.

Her daughter Elizabeth Speed is mentioned in her will.

Her grandparents were Thomas Chappell and Elizabeth Jones & Henry Briggs and Elizabeth Lucas.

Her great grandparents were Thomas Chappell and Mary Sarah Bannister & Henry Briggs and his wife Mary ?.

To my son Henry Mason -- lend to him 150 acres where I now live joining Cary James, Isaac Wesson, Jordan House, Christopher Mason, the orphans of Joseph Mason, also lend to him & his wife (if any) for life all my negroes & all the rest of my estate after my debts are paid; should he have issue, then he to will the remains of the legacy to whom he pleases, should he have no issue, then it to return to my son Christopher Mason.
Ex. my sons Christopher Mason, Henry Mason, & Randolph Newsom
Wit. Jon James, Martha C. James, Elizabeth James, Cary James
Probate indicates that Christopher Mason qualified to execute with Henry Mason & Cary James is securities."
