He graduated from high school at New Mexico Military Institute located in Roswell, NM in 1965. Later in 1965 he entered the U.S. Army Infantry. In January 1967 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and ultimately rose to the rank of Captain. In January 1968 during the "Tet offensive" he served as the platoon leader in the 3rd Battalion 60th Infantry, E Company, 3rd Platoon, 9th Infantry Division (Riverine Force). During this time he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, two Army Commendation Medals (1 for Valor in action), the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Presidential Unit Citation. In 1971 he became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Upon leaving the service in 1972 he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, where he met and was sealed to his wife, Marilyn Joan Johnson of Cherry Hill, NJ. Marilyn and Bob are the proud parents of Jessica, Joshua, Jennifer and Janell. Jessica is married to Billy Ray Bruce and they have three children. After college in 1975, Bob worked in the computer industry and enjoyed his colleagues at DST Systems where he was the Chief Technology Officer. He loved the Boy Scouts of America and what it provided for young men. But especially he enjoyed servicing within the LDS Church. For it was here that they learned how families can be together forever and worked together to that end. Indeed he looks forward to the reunion to come.
