She was born June 24, 1925 in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late Samuel Pinkney and Stella Holden Gore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cameron Morrison Russ in 2003.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Janet Elaine Henderson (Larry Ray) of Sneads Ferry; sons, Morrison Ray Russ (Trisha) of Gilroy, CA, Walter Graham Russ (Sallie) of Raleigh and Jerry Wayne Russ of Burgaw; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Virginia loved her family dearly and was an excellent homemaker, creating a home filled with love and respect. In addition to her homemaking she helped Cameron with his farming. She taught her children the value of Christian faith, hard work, honesty and respect for others. Virginia's friends fondly remember her witty, dry sense of humor and her amazing way of getting things done. Cherished memories of Virginia will forever remain in our hearts.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, in the Lee Roy Russ Fellowship Hall at Trinity United Methodist Church. Following the visitation a graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kelly with Pastor Ernie Block officiating.
Virginia's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staffs of Davis Healthcare Center and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care given to Virginia and to them.
