Mr. Abernathy was a native Jacksonville, FL and a lifelong resident. He was a member of the Baptist faith and was an avid sports fan who loved to cook. Preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, the late Betty J. Abernathy.
Survivors include his daughter, Valerie Sadler (Gary); a son, Wayne Abernathy (Terri); a brother in law, Dewey Martin, Jr. (Lee); 5 grandchildren, Robbie, Brandy, Ashley, Michelle, and Kim; Aunt Kitty Curtis and cousin Ronnie Reeves; a devoted friend, Oveida Vogle; a niece, Shula and a special thanks to the staff in CCU at St. Vincents Medical Center.
