Services will be Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City with the Rev. Robert W. Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Frees was born March 30, 1908 in Broadway, Iowa, to George W. and Anna (Jaeger) Preston. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1927 with a normal teaching certificate. Before her marriage, she taught country school for several years. She married Francis Wm. Frees on Dec. 27, 1931, at the First United Methodist Church. She moved with her family during the war years, spending several years in Tennessee. They moved back to Iowa city in 1955.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include a daughter, Donneta Knarr and her husband, Warren, of Iowa City; a grandson, Peter Knarr and his wife, Tammy, of Rockford, ILL; a granddaughter, Julie O'Shea and her husband, Sean, of Oak Park, Ill; two great-grandchildren, Tommy and Katie O'Shea; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband in 1990; four brothers, George, Glen, Doug, Valmir; and two sisters, Florence and Vernita, died earlier.
