When Catharina Delker "Katharina" Spexarth was born on August 9, 1824, in Varensell, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, her father, Joannes, was 29, and her mother, Maria, was 23. She married Gerhard Ruscherdavid on November 24, 1841, in Varensell, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Her first husband died July 9 1844. Katharina was the inheritor of the Ruscherdavid farm through the death of her husband. She had one daughter with her 1st husband, their daughter Elizabeth died less than 2 months of age. Katharina married Gerhard "Joseph" Spexarth a few weeks after her daughter Elizabeth's death.

Katharina and her 2nd husband Gerhard "Joseph" Spexard had twelve children together. The farm name of Ruscherdavid was assumed by her second husband, Gerhard Joseph Spexard, and their children. Katharina was 45 years old when she arrived in the United States. The Ruscherdavid name was dropped by all when in the United States. She died on January 6, 1892, at the age of 67, and was buried in St. Paul, Iowa.
