Lemuel Francis Lassiter was born September 5, 1863 in Kentucky, son of William Riley Lassiter (1832-1926) snd Susan A. Lawson.

The 1880 Federal Census for Liberty, Kentucky (Calloway County) shows Lemuel F. Lassiter, age 16, born in Kentucky; living with his father William R. Lassiter, farmer, age 45, born in Kentucky; and his stepmother, Minerva, age 35, born in Tennessee. Also living in the household were Lemuel's sibling: Sarah E. Lassiter, age 14; and his half siblings: William A. Lassiter, age 7; and Minerva J. Lassiter, age 4; all born in Kentucky.

Lemuel married Callie Dona Brown who was born in 1870 in Tennessee. The 1900 Federal Census for Justice Precinct 3, Texas (Red River County) shows Lemuel F. Lassiter, a farmer, age 30, born September 1869 in Kentucky; and his wife, Callie D., age 29, born July 1870 in Tennessee. The census shows that Lemuel and Callie had been married 10 years and that they had given birth to four children with only three still living. Living with them were two children: Jennie M. Lassiter, age 6, born September 1893; Bryan Lassiter, age 3, born July 1896; and Eva Lena Lassiter, age 1, born June 1898; all born in Texas.

The 1920 Federal Census for Caddo, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Lemuel F. Lassiter, a farmer, age 57, born in Kentucky; and his wife, Dona, age 49, born in Tennessee. Living with them was their children: Eva Lena Lassiter, age 21; Harold Lassiter, age 17; Essie Lassiter, age 14; Ethel Lassiter, age 11; John R. Lassiter, age 9; and Lucile Lassiter, age 6; all born in Texas.

The 1930 Federal Census for Caddo, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Lemuel F. Lassiter, a farmer, age 65, born in Kentucky; and his wife, Dona, age 59, born in Tennessee. Living with them was their son, John R. Lassiter, a farm laborer, age 20, born in Texas; and their daughter, Lucille Lassiter, age 15, born in Texas.

Lemuel died September 3, 1934, in Caddo, Oklahoma (Bryan County) of self-inflicted gun wounds. He was buried there in Gethsemane Cemetery. Dona died in 1956 in Caddo and was buried beside her husband.

Lemuel F. Lassiter, 70-year old Caddo pioneer, took his own life Saturday. He died from a shotgun wound. His invalid wife and two daughters found him after hearing the shots. Funeral services held at Caddo with burial in the Caddo Cemetery.
