GIRARD – David A. Adams, 90, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Hospice House in Poland.

He was born June 13, 1921, in Struthers, the son of the late Charles and Adelaide Yochim Adams.

David retired in 1983 after 40 years for Ohio Edison Power Plant in Niles.

He was a veteran in the Army during World War II, a member of the First Baptist Church in Girard, formerly belonged to Girard Senior Citizens, several bowling leagues and enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by his children, Janice A. (Kenneth) Townsend of Columbus, Ga., Jerry L. Adams of Woodstock, Ga., Donna J. Smith of Howland, and Susan R. (John) McCarthy of Lake City, Fla.; sister, Mary Agnes Adams of Salem; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty Craig, whom he married June 17, 1943, and died Jan. 30, 2007; sister, Pauline Adam; and brothers, Charles, Arthur and George Adams.

A graveside military service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Youngstown on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at 9 a.m.
