Aged members of families which have lived in Santa Cruz since the days before the American occupation died yesterday.

Mrs. Eduviges E. Rodriguez, the last of the sons and daughters of Nicholas Dodero, who, at the age of 76, succumbed at the home of Mrs. Harriet C. Hogan, 86 Broadway.

The other was Ramon Arana,; a member of the family after which Arana gulch was named.

Mrs. Rodriguez will be buried in the Holy Cross cemetery Wednesday morning. Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross church by Father Patrick J. McGrath at 10 o'clock, when requiem high mass will be said. Rosary will be said tomorrow night at 8 o'clock in the Chase mortuary.

Father Came In 1827
Mrs. Rodriguez was the daughter of Nicholas Dodero, a native of Italy, who came to California in 1827 and married into the Higuera family, one of the early Spanish families In Monterey.

Mr. Dodero received the land grant now owned by C. C. Moore and known as Rancho Tres Ojos de Agua.

Brothers and sisters, all of whom are dead, were John, Louis, Domingo, Joseph, Refugio, Incarnacion, Louisa and Mary. Surviving her are several nephews and nieces, as well as a daughter, Mrs. Ann Ehle, of Berkeley; and nine sons: Robert, Henry, David, Joseph, Edward, Albert, Ernest, Herman, George and Leo. One Son, Fred, died several years ago.

Son of Arana Family
Within less than a mile of the house in which Mrs. Rodriguez died, Ramon Arana, 78, died at the same hour yesterday morning. He was a son of the late Philip Arana and Esperanza Amaya Arana, and was born in what is now known as Arana gulch.

Since 1883 he had made his home at 201 Hanover street, where he died after an illness of four days. His father and mother were born in this section.

Surviving him is a brother, Gabino, of San Luis Obispo; a son, Ramon, Jr., of Bethany circle; a daughter, Eliza Sartori, of 201 Hanover street; and a companion, Frank Griffin, who has lived with him for many years.

Funeral services will be held at the Santa Cruz mortuary Wednesday morning at 8:30. Requiem high mass will be said at the Holy Cross church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in the Holy Cross cemetery. Rosary will be said tomorrow night at 7:30 in the chapel of the mortuary.
