Erik Charles Karnath
Passed away November 3, 2009...Erik was an extremely talented and gifted young man. He owned and played several guitars, a banjo, a mandolin, and keyboard. He wrote and recorded his own music. This past summer Erik played all the music for a college friend's wedding. He also loved to paint and draw. His works went from traditional landscapes to impressionism and modern art. He loved writing. He spent a lot of time journaling and writing song lyrics. Erik was a voracious reader. His taste in books ran all the way from science fiction to tracts dealing with the environment and ecosystem. He was also very physical. He was into yoga, mountain hiking, and running. He once raced in the Vancouver (BC) marathon. He was a very intelligent young man. He graduated from Western Washington U. with a degree in Psychology. And, as a boy, he scored high enough on the SAT to receive the Johns Hopkins award presented through the University of Washington. Erik was involved in the family business with his brother and father. Erik focused on graphic and web design. He developed the company catalog, collaborated with manufacturers in the development of the company website, and customized literature for individual clients. Erik was a good friend. His friends from college were the most important part of his life. They shared music and laughter, hiking and camping, and lots of conversation. Erik left us much too soon. We miss his wry sense of humor, his unique insight into issues of the day, his unique sense of organization, and his compassion for others. And Erik will always be in our hearts because he touched us and made us better people for knowing him. We love you, Erik. Services will be held this Friday at 11:00 am in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Sumner, Washington. Interment will follow at the Sumner cemetery. Donations in Erik's name may be made to the North Cascades Institute
