OBITUARY

Mrs. S.J. Anderson

Anna Sophia Bloom Anderson was born in Helsingland, Sweden, September 4, 1842 and died May 5, 1926, at the ripe old age of 83 years, 7 months, 5 days. Deceased came to America in 1846 at the age of four years, and settled at Bishop Hill, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Swan Jake Anderson, December 20, 1864 and to this union seven children were born, three of whom passed away in infancy. One daughter, Sylvia, passed away in 1901, at the age of 17 years and a son, John, died in 1914 at the age of 44 years. Her husband passed away in 1903 at 63 years of age.

They moved from Bishop Hill, Ills., in 1881 and settled in the Stratford community. In 1905 deceased retired from the farm and moved into Stratford and she lived here in her own home until she was stricken with paralysis in July of 1922 and her health became so poorly that she went to live with her son, Oliver, southwest of town, at whose home she passed to her reward.

She leaves to mourn her death, two sons, Oliver Anderson of Stratford and Phillip Anderson of Boone, eight grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Gust Berg of Bishop Hill, Ills., other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Anderson was a kindly and very motherly lady. She had passed through all of the privations of the early settlers of this state and the state in which she first located when coming to this country. And through it all she maintained a Christian's true courage and fortitude. She rallied from her first illness in 1922 and was able some months to partly help herself but since the early part of this year she had gradually failed in health and strength until the end came.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the home of her son, Oliver, at 1:30 o'clock p.m., and from the Swedish Mission Church at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Abraham of Pilot Mound. Interment was made in the Hardin Township Cemetery.
