Mr. Jacob Jackson "Jack" Rutherford, Jr., 80, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Monday, July 5, 2004, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.

Mr. Rutherford, a native of Berrien County, Ga., was born January 19, 1924, the son of the late Jacob Jackson, Sr. and Erin Massey Rutherford. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, a retiree with the State of Georgia Labor Department, and a member of Douglas First Baptist Church.

Survivors included: his wife, Ruby McMillan Rutherford of Douglas, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Emily Dawkins of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jean Lee of Newnan, Ga.; three brothers-in-law, Raymond McMillan of Atlanta, Ga., Bethel McMillan of McDonough, Ga., and Jim Karras of Nashville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Douglas First Baptist Church, with Rev. Shep Johnson and Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Soloist Galen Collins sang "Because He Lives" and the congregation sang "How Great Thou Art," with Louis Sinclair accompanying at the piano. Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home of Douglas, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
