Bracken county lost a beloved life long citizen in the death of George Galbraith. Although he had passed the eighty ninth milestone on the path of life, he had never been incapacitated by illness, other than accident, from moving about and pursuing an active vocation, until stricken with paralysis on Thanksgiving day last and finally resulted in his death in the early hour of the morning Saturday, March 5, 1943.

The birth of Mr. Galbraith occurred in Bracken county, December 19, 1853 and his parents being Thomas and Serepta Owens Galbraith. Thomas Galbraith was born in 1809 in Virginia, and was the son of George Galbraith who came to Kentucky from Natural Bridge, Virginia.

His mother, Serepto Owens, was birn in Mason county in 1821, and died in Bracken county in 1904. She was a daughter of William Owens, of Mason county and his wife Polly Lewis, who was reared in Germantown.

Mr. Galbraith wa united in marriage to Elizabeth Galbraith who ws born in Robertson county in 863, the daughter of Augustus and Elizabeth Jett Galbraith. Their six children are: Blanche, Harry, Frank, Hobart, Shirley, Mabel, all survive to mourn his passing with the exception of Hobart, who died in the service of his country, at Camp Zachary Taylor, Ky. during World War 1.
Three grandchildren, Lanna Jean, Donna Sue and George Carroll.

George Carroll having passed on a few years ago at the age of six. Mr. Galbraith was a member of a family of eight children, three sons and five daughters, all having preceded him to the grave. Mr. Galbraith was reared and has always resided upon the home farm near Bridgeville, and having the community welfare at heart, served as local school trustee, and on the county board of education and was affiliated with the Bank of Germantown since its organization in 1899. Serving as president, vice president and director. In the matter of religious faith he favored the Christ church.

Services were conducted at 3:00 o'clock Monday at the Germantown Christina church by the Rev. Estill Dale, pastor. Burial was made in the Germantown cemetery.
