Barrett ("Buck") Ackman, Jackson, Route 4, 71 years old, died Sunday night at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He had been hospitalize for six weeks.
Mr. Ackman was born July 8, 1908, at Neelys Landing, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ackman. He resided on the family farm in Neelys Landing, until 1961, when he moved to Fruitland. Mr. Ackman worked as a farm laborer in the Fruitland area.
He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, east of Pocahontas.
Surviving are three brothers, James Ackman, Jackson Route 4, Clifford Ackman, Carlsbad, N.M., and Herb Ackman, Crystal City, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body is at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Charles Mayberry of Benton, will officiate, and burial will be in the New Bethel Church Cemetery.
