James Maxwell "Jim" Cooksey, Sr., 88, of Irving, Texas, died in Grand Prairie, Texas, with his family at his side, Tuesday, April 19, 2011.
Jim was born on Thursday, November 16, 1922, in Mills County, Texas, to Tom Denton Cooksey and Grace Jewell Rutherford Cooksey.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Jim Cooksey worked as an aerospace engineer at LTV Aerospace & Defense for 33 years. He was the Chief of the Gas Dynamics Laboratories in 1966-1967. Jim was the original manager of its High Speed Wind Tunnel, and retired in 1988.
Jim married Norma Sue Powell on Friday, May 5, 1950. Jim and Sue were married over 59 years when she died.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Sue on January 19, 2009, and infant daughter Kathleen on March 1, 1951.- based on obituary published in the Dallas Morning News, April 21-22, 2011.
