Born August 9, 1935 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Sanders) Hardman.
Mr. Hardman worked as a bricklayer for Heiges Masonry and then was a foreman for Caretti Inc. of Camp Hill until his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting as well as fishing and crabbing on the Eastern Shore. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed mushroom hunting with his son, brother, and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family, great-grandson, and friends.
Mr. Hardman was a member of the American Legion Post 202 and the VFW Post 15 in Gettysburg, the Blue Ridge Sportsman Club, the New Oxford Social Club, and former member of the Moose Fraternity.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. Hardman of Fairfield; three daughters, Diana L. Woodward of Biglerville, Debra K. Gelles and husband Greg of Fairfield, and Kathy "Kitten" L. Sease of Gaithersburg, MD; six grandchildren, Brooke S. Hardman of Hagerstown, Brett F. Hardman of Hagerstown, John D. Woodward Jr. and wife Brittanie of Fairfield, Jennifer L. Luckenbaugh and husband Kyle of Aspers, David L. Joy of Waynesboro, and Candice M. Brooks of Fairfield; one great-grandchild; one brother, Joseph "Joe" V. Hardman and wife Nancy of Barlow; two nieces, Lisa J. (Hardman) Forsythe and husband Rick of Orrtanna; and Ruby L. (Hardman) Sullivan and husband Donald of Gettysburg; two great-nieces, Rachael and Gayle Sullivan of Gettysburg; and two nephews, Richard Hardman of Maine and David Hardman of Florida.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Rinehart, and a brother, Clarence Richard (Dick) Hardman.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held, September 9, at 1 p.m. at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
