Nunda NY News - Feb 2, 1945

Word has been received of the death of Lt. James E. DePuy, 21, of the Ninth Air Force on Jan 4 in a hospital in France. No futher details have been received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rolland DePuy of Ossian.

Lieutenant DePuy entered the army as an aviation cadet in February 1943. He received his commission and wings at Marianna Army Air Field, Florida, in April 1944, and has been serving overseas since October.

Private committal services are to be conducted in Ossian today for Lieut. James E. DePuy, son of Mrs. Elizabeth DePuy of Dansvile. Lieut. DePuy, a member of the United States Army Air Corps was killed in France January 4, 1945. He is the first Dansville veteran of World War II to be brought to Dansville for reburial.
