Passes Away Last Thursday Jan 27. Mrs. Thomas Slater died at her home here Thursday January 27. She had been ill only a week. Born at New York. When she was a girl she moved to Madison where she grew to womanhood and where she in marriage with Thomas Slater. Five children were born to union three boys and two girls. Thomas died January 17 1917. Mr. and Mrs. Slater lived humbly and contentedly giving their best. They labored cheerfully to provide well for their family and at the their home . Mrs. Slater was a public spirited woman. She was a charter member of the Relief Corps and will be missed by the members. Among those who came from outside of Emmetsburg to attend the funeral of Mrs. Slater were Mr. and Mrs. James A Slater of Des Moines, Mrs. Campbell of Pueblo, William Slater of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. J D Hood of Muscatine.
