William Rankin Fisher was born June 3, 1836 in Lee County, Iowa to Samuel and Lydia Fisher. He married Almira P. Hysell in Lee County, Iowa on March 27, 1857.

1. Margaret Caroline E. "Carrie" Fisher (1857) married several times. First to James Evans Carter in 1872. They divorced and she remarried Perry M. McCutchen Oct 25, 1878. She married a third time to Cornelius Burch Cox in 1897 and with him had a daughter Margaret.

2. Lydia Jane Fisher (1859-1946) married John Henry Haun. Had nine children including Almira, Martha Jane, William Henry, Mary Eva, Edgar Thomas, Emma May, Carrie Ella, Anna Belle, Clara Viola. Lived in Gilroy.

3. Martha "Mattie" Fisher (1862-1910), twin of John L. Oddly there is no info on her during her adulthood other than her death in 1910, buried with her father.

4. John Larren Fisher (1862-1950), twin of Mattie. Married Emma and had two children, Mattie and Arthur Rae. He was a tailor and lived in Gilroy.

5. Harriett P. "Hattie" Fisher (1865-1941). She married Thomas Henry Craig and had at least five children: James William, Florence Almira, Winifred Martha, Dolores Harriet, Ellwood Thomas. They lived in Santa Cruz County before moving to San Jose, then to Redding and finally to Sacramento.

7. Silas Harvey Henry Fisher (1872-1912), usually known by his middle name Harvey. He married Serelda Haun, daughter of Zimiriah Haun and Elizabeth Whistman, sister of John Henry Haun who married Harvey's older sister Lydia. Serelda had previously married a Mr. Lewis and later married Benjamin Franklin Edgar. He was a machinist for the Haun Rotary Engine Co and lived in San Jose. They did not have any children.

8. Emma A. Fisher (1877-1881), who died young.

The first two children, Margaret and Lydia, were born in Denmark, Iowa. Then William and Almira moved to California sometime between 1860 and 1862 where the rest of the children were born.
