US Congressman. Elected as a Republican to represent New York's 26th District in the Forty-second Congress, he served from 1871 to 1873. Goodrich attended Oberlin College in Ohio and taught school in New York and Pennsylvania before being admitted to the bar in 1840. He initially practiced law in Beloit, Wisconsin. He returned to his home state in 1844 and settled in Dryden, where he served as Postmaster from 1849 to 1853; he was also a member of the State Constitutional Conventions in 1867 and 1868. Goodrich's single term in Congress marked his only time in political office; he was defeated for reelection in 1872. He lived in Auburn, New York from 1875 until his death.
