Politician. He was elected to represent New York's 7th District in the United States House of Representatives in 1801, but never took office. He also served as a Member of the New York State Assembly in 1777, Delegate to New York State Constitutional Convention in 1788, and Member of the New York State Senate for the Middle District from 1789 to 1797.
