OBITUARY - March 22 1929 - "J.E. (Book) Muir, 67 years old, well known farmer of this county succumbed Friday am to injuries received last Saturday when he was kicked by a mule at his farm. Death occurred at the home a mile southeast of Hatton, where he was confined since the injury, which was so serious that physicians were unable to remove him to the hospital in Fulton. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Sunday at the Pleasant Grove Methodist. Church at Hatton, by the Rev. M.F. Crowe, of Auxvasse and burial will be in the cemetery of that church. He was a lifelong resident of this County and had lived for the last 40 years on the farm where he died. He had been a farmer and stockmen all of his life and was well known throughout the county for the quality of animals which he produced and marketed Mr. Muir was married November 21 1888 to Sallie Boyd, of this county who survives. Two children also survive. They are Mrs. Robert Brown and Mrs. Grover Sims, both of Mexico. In addition, Mr. Muir leaves five brothers and four sisters. They are: Wesley Muir, Blytheville, Arkansas; Wood Muir, Hatton; Frank Muir of Auxvasse; W.E of McCredie; Mrs. Mollie Dudley of Dinuba, California; Mrs. Hattie Wood of Warsaw; Mrs. Alma Morgan of McCrory, Arkansas; and Mrs. Annie Tincher of Fulton. Mr. Muir was a member of the Methodist Church uniting with that denomination early in life."
