Rites For C. R. Collins
Former Lumberman Buried Thursday In Strasburg Cemetery.

Charles Rowland Collins, 76 whose death April 4 at his home here was related in The Times last week, was buried Thursday in Strasburg cemetery, following services conducted by the Rev. Arthur J. Bennett at the Brownfield-Stanley chapel.
Mrs. David Alexander sang "In the Garden" and "Sunrise," with Mrs. George Dunn at the organ.
Active pallbearers were Edgar Steele, Hubert Haile, David Alexander, Jack Jones, Carl Brizendine and Laurence Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers: Allen Morton, Jesse Johnson, Basil Jones, George Dunn, W.P. Roles, Row Cloud, Ed Spencer, George Sloan, Simon Gray, Ed Gray, Clarence Hedrick, Carroll Lewis, Dr J. B. Jeans, H. Newkirk, P. J. Yennie, Maurice Wilson, Marvin Thompson, Elmer Rains.
Mr. Collins, who died at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 18 days, was a son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert W. Collins. He was born near Strasburg October 17, 1899. He later attended the University of Missouri, and taught in the rural schools of Cass County two years before becoming manager of the J. C. Jones lumber yard at Strasburg, a position he held 20 years.
He was manager of the Benson lumber yard here four years, retiring in 1948.
On October 25, 1905, in Strasburg, he married Miss Ina Frances Peck, who survives him. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred H. (Janice) Tomlin of Pleasant Plains, Ill.; a brother Luther Collins of Kansas City, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Glover of Salina, Kas., and Mrs. Lubelle Rowland of Wichita, Kas.
Mr. Collins jonied the Christian church at Strasburg when he was 20 years old, transferred his membership here when they moved to Pleasant Hill 11 years ago. He was a member of the local I.O.O.F. lodge, having recieved his 50-year pin from the lodge last year.
