She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Everett E. Worrell Jr., Maj. USAF, Retired; daughters, Elizabeth Lee Dagley and husband, Steve, of Kingston, Tenn., Anne W. Abeel and husband, Jack, of Disputanta, Va., Linda C. Orlicky and husband, Mark, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Rebecca W. Agnew and husband, Zander, of Richmond, Va. Also, sisters, Dorothy C. Brooks of Keysville, Va. and Frances C. Robertson of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Sam Colgate and wife, Ginny, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren, Kristen, Robert, Charity, Amanda, Rachel, Amy, Erik, Everett; and eight great-grandchildren.
She received her state teaching certificate from Longwood Teachers College and taught in Manakin, Va. She worked at the Federal Patent Office in Richmond and also at Bellwood during WWII. Hazel spent 27 years as an Air Force wife. She was President of the P.T.A. and Officers' Wives Club at Gifu AFB in Japan, and enjoyed traveling, reading, dancing, bowling, playing Scrabble, and most of all, loving her children and grandchildren. She was a phenomenal seamstress, the Sochastee Singers' Costume Designer, and owned her own store, the Katydid Fabrics, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Hazel was dearly loved. She touched and improved the lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Her remains rest at the Bliley's-Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Family will receive friends at the cemetery prior to the graveside service. Services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince George County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 308, Prince George, Va. 23875.
